Watch Out For Your Watch......
Like any fine piece of machinery your watch needs to be respected and regularly maintained to ensure its accuracy and protect its appearance.
1. To avoid water damage, check your manufacturers warrantie to make sure you know the watch's water resistance and make sure you follow the instructions.
2. Always remember to screw down the crown where applicable on water resistant watches to ensure they are water tight.
3. Don't apply perfume or moisturisers around your wrist as the chemicals can erode the metal, leather and plastic of watch straps.
4. Even though your watch might be water resistant the leather strap will not be. Watches used in the water will need their straps replaced more often.
5. If water or condensation appears inside your watch face, keep it away from water, lay it down, crown out and nearest the table in a dry environment and have it checked by a watch specialist as soon as possible.
6. If for any reason the watch does get wet, towel dry when convenient. Always use a soft cloth to clean your timepiece.
7. Be aware that with everyday use there will come a time where scratches may appear. Most cases and bracelets can be refinished to look like new however leather straps will always darken with time.
8. If your timepiece is an automatic winding or a manual winding, it is not recommended that you wear it while you are playing any high impact sports as the impact can sometimes jar the movement.
9. On this type of movement also ensure you do not move the date on between the hours of 10.00pm - 2.00am as you can damage the cogs.
Servicing & repairs
Most of our brands offer between a one and three year guarantee against manufacturing defects. When this period is over we recommend servicing every three to five years to keep your timepiece in perfect working order by an accredited service centre.
Seals on water resistant watches should be checked annually.
Estimates - The price of the service varies depending on the complexity of the timepiece.
We will be happy to send your timepiece to the service centre for a quotation.
If a watch develops a fault we are happy to send it off for repair to an accredited workshop or direct to the manufacturer where it is a brand we stock. An estimate will then be received. Often this can take 2-3 weeks. Once you have proceeded the repair it normally takes a minimum of 3-4 weeks before the watch is returned to us, depending on the fault. Where it is a complex movement such as the Jaeger Le-Coultre Atmos clock it is not unusual for the process to take 6 months. Precious time keeping takes care to maintain and cannot be rushed!
All time-pieces are insured to the current market value of the particular watch whilst in our care.
