Sapphires are the hardest precious stone after diamonds and come in a stunning array of colours including blue, violet, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple as well as intermediate hues.

The different colours are due to different chemical elements present when the sapphire forms, these trace elements create the rainbow hues, for example chromium is responsible for pink sapphire colour, and iron and titanium traces result is a blue sapphire.
